Call Before You Dig

Before beginning any digging or excavation project in South Dakota, you are required to contact 811 at least 48 hours in advance to have underground utilities marked. South Dakota One Call is a free service that helps protect you, your community, and essential infrastructure by identifying the locations of buried utility lines, including gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications, and cable. Striking an underground line can cause serious injury, widespread service outages, costly repairs, and possible fines. Whether you are installing a fence, planting trees, or starting a construction project, calling 811 before you dig is the law.
